This summer Brederode offers you the best of both worlds by introducing a Spanish summer course in the thrilling city of Barcelona, right near the beach. In small groups, you’ll get a handle on the language that’s spoken by more than 580 million people worldwide. Not only will you learn how to speak a bit of Spanish, but you will also get to experience the local culture of this colorful city.

The summer courses allow near beginners or advanced beginners to learn the core competencies of Spanish in one week. A course week consists of 7,5 contact hours: Wednesday to Sunday between 9.00 to 13.00. This allows you to join this course by taking off from work for only three days. You can fly in on Tuesday evening and leave on Sunday afternoon.

All groups consist of a maximum of 8 students. The course week runs from August 22 until August 27 2023. Classes will take place at the hotel where you, as a student, will also reside. We also offer the possibility of taking additional private classes with one of our teachers. You will get practical assignments to use while you are visiting the city. You will learn by doing!

Afternoons are free, so you can spend them relaxing and studying. You can also tag along with our joint activities. Examples of possible tours are a cycle tour with a visit to the famous Palau de la Música, where Granados played his Goyescas for the first time. Or Spanish wine tasting at Viblioteca in the Gracia neighborhood. Any additional costs for the afternoon program are at your own expense.

The Student Hotel Barcelona Marina is our place to be this summer. You’ll be sleeping in a single bedroom with a private bathroom. Before you start your class, you can enjoy a full breakfast and in the afternoon can choose (at extra cost) from a three-course lunch. Additionally, on every floor you will have access to a fully equipped common kitchen.

Naturally, you can use all the facilities the Student Hotel has to offer, including several pools, a study hall, lounges, terraces, and the restaurant and café. The hotel is within walking distance of metro station Marina and it’s a ten-minute bike ride to the beach. You can cycle to the famous Sagrada Familia in eight minutes.

The cost of this five-day course is € 750,-. Included in the cost are bed and breakfast. Not included are lunches, dinners, travel expenses, or an afternoon program. If desired, you can have a three-course lunch or dinner at The Student Hotel for around € 15 per meal. If you decide to come earlier, this is possible at an extra cost. We will be arriving on Sunday, so you will not be alone. On Monday and Tuesday, we will be visiting the city, you can join us if you want.
